Gaborone Hub is a youth-led AI innovation and impact community in Botswana, operating under the Young AI Leaders program. We are dedicated to advancing ethical AI in Africa through community-led AI projects, tech youth programs, and inclusive AI education that empowers young people to create socially impactful artificial intelligence solutions in Gaborone and beyond.

Membership Requirements

To join Gaborone Hub, applicants should be:

between the ages of 18 and 25
currently living in or near Gaborone
eager to harness the power of AI to create meaningful, positive change
passionate about working with peers to uplift the local community and contribute beyond,
committed to bringing fresh ideas to the table and actively contributing to group initiatives
willing to support and uplift fellow Young AI Leaders in both their personal and professional journeys
ready to fully engage with the Young AI Leaders community and uphold the values of the Community Charter.

Upcoming Projects and Events

We haven't officially launched yet, but our groundwork is firmly in place. In the upcoming quarter and beyond, we aim to roll out a range of impactful activities designed to build capacity, strengthen collaboration, and drive innovation in Botswana’s AI ecosystem. These include:

Hackathons that challenge participants to solve real-world problems using ethical and inclusive AI.
AI Projects targeting local Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—from healthcare to education and environmental sustainability—designed to demonstrate how AI can generate meaningful social impact.
Networking Events to foster connections among AI enthusiasts, professionals, academics, and innovators across Botswana and the African continent.
Educational Webinars and AI Literacy Sessions to empower members with foundational and emerging knowledge, tools, and resources in AI.
Community Outreach & Youth Engagement, particularly through the Young AI Leaders initiative, aimed at inspiring the next generation of ethical AI practitioners.
